I have learned so much about The Holy Qur'an. So much more to Islam than one might believe, and violence is not the way.

First off, let me say that I know nothing about the following things:-The history of (or basically anythings about) the Qur'an-ArabicHowever, I wanted to learn about the Qur'an and its teachings, so I decided to look into buying one. Although I do not speak Arabic at all (so I can't judge the accuracy of the translations, although I have no doubt that it is as true to the original Arabic as possible), I still wanted a Qur'an that had the original arabic writing alongside the English translation. I saw other Qur'ans on here that either did not have the original Arabic writing, or were formatted strangely. I found this one to be the exact match to what I was looking for. For people who are just getting into the Qur'an (as I am), I highly recommend this version!For one thing, it is a very beautiful and high-quality printed and constructed book. It is hard-bound, and well-worth what you pay for it.Secondly, it gives a lot of precursory information that was very interesting to me, such as how the Qur'an is divided, and the table of contents is laid out very nicely and makes it easy to find what you are looking for.Now, on to the actual scriptures. Like I said before, the English translations are on the left side, and the original Arabic is on the right side. At the bottom Ali has written in great detail, notes that as especially help to me, as they contain thorough explanations and notes and give more insight into the book and what is in it.In conclusion, if you are looking to start your journey into the teachings of the Qur'an, or just would like to expand your collection, this is the one to get!

As I don't read Arabic I assume the translation is as close as one could expect going form Arabic to English. The commentary is very helpful and I am finding the reading of and learning something about this middle east religion interested and informative.

Arrived in pristine condition. Beautiful, exceptional quality. The vendor: The Book Depository, advertised it as NEW and it met the description.It being a vendor outside of Amazon, I am impressed. Should any other reading of interest be offered by The Book Depository, it will be my vendor of choice.As for the contents of this sacred translation. It is truly personal to the reader.

This was one book my Imam did not favor for two things and they are because of the english translation (though honestly he did not really understand the structure of the english like I did, that or because he didn't like the choice of words) but I liked it personally compared to other ones I read before. It is really good, and a bit advanced in the way that you'd have to get a dictionary to see what a word means but it's good because you'd learn new words but you wouldn't really be forced to do it all the time because you'd already know the meaning of what the verse means by the time you get to the word. Though his main gripe was that the book opened and began with the American style (left to right) of books rather than that of Arabic (reverse) where you start at the very back of the book to began the Quran to read it in true Arabic style. But I still do have The Quran with English and Arabic translation he has given me which is also a great one that I should recommend to everyone for the easy understanding and two English and Arabic texts it has, it is in the Arabic style in that when you read it it starts from the Back of the book instead of the front for example American books. The only downside to it is the grammer mistakes found through out the book, but I read both of this books side by side at the same time to compare and get a better understanding because they both can sound better than the other at times so its a win win. Even better though is the Arabic because it is the same in all books as proved by Allah (Almighty God) opposed to different language translations. Another cool note for the other Quran (not this one) is that on the english translation the followers of Allah are refered to as muslims where it doesn't do so on this version of Muhammad Mualana Ali's.Now I don't know Arabic at the moment so this review is obviously for the people looking for the best English translation. I recommend this one, I also recommend the other one which my Imam gave me and its The Holy Quran Kanzul Imam (The Treasure of Faith) By Imam Ahmad Raza Qadri Rehmatullah Alaih Renedered into English By Prof. Syed Shah Faridul Haque Published By Markaz-E-Ahle Sunnat Barkaat-E-RazaNot sure if you will find this anywhere but it's worth that I mention it.

This is a good English translation of the Quran that includes study notes at the bottom. The author helped me better understand the Quran from a Christian mindset.My complaint here would be the translation is a bit old English and thus a little difficult to read but not unbearable.

Excellent translation and clarity, wonderful book materials and well constructed.

Love how the translation of the Quranic text appears in beautiful larger blue letters (Kindle edition), making it easily distinguishable from the very extensive commentary. While it seems that some of the views presented in the commentary differ from those held by the majority of Sunnis, there is nonetheless a wealth of very helpful information about Islam and the Quran, and a rather comprehensive index.

I'm learning about another religion. Got it in good condition. Recommend to all. A specially for Muslims who misunderstand this religion.

4.75 STARS FOR THIS ONEThe title of this one is really literal. The Cougar find his one on a trip to Las Vegas to help the Klein family update their security at a Vegas Casino. How much more lucky could that be.Everett is one of the Hayes twins. He is the geek of the Trio and the one who was not looking, but still looking, for his one. He is restless and not satisfied but still not committed to finding that elusive mate connection. That, however, does deter fate. When he meets the youngest member of Klein clan at the month hunt in Vegas all bets are off. It helps that Layla is a cougar shifter and knows at the same instant Everett does that her life as she knows it is about to do a 360. In fact the hook up that night, head to Vegas and are married by Elvis.The only dark spot on their happiness is one very dumb mobster want-to-be boyfriend Vince Donoto. When he puts a hit out on Layla he buys more trouble than he can hope to come away unscathed from. Especially when the Klein family put in a call to his Dad who has no idea what trouble Vince is causing. He is quickly dispatched and life for the newly weds comes full circle. That is if you don't count the Mother-in-law from hell into the mixture.Read and enjoy.

I loved the first book. I thought Effie was fun and awesome. This book, not so much. Layla was spoiled and selfish throughout the entire book. She was so bad the first half of the book I thought it would come between her and Everett, they would fight then she would see the error of her selfish ways. But no, that's just her forever self. There was no compromise on anything. He would want something,she would throw a fit and he would concede. He would say something was dangerous, she would blow him off. It was the same during her interactions with her family. At one point she actually stomped her foot when she wasn't getting her way. It was annoying and disappointing because I actually really liked Everett. He's the only reason I gave this book 2 stars.

I loved the story and the eff and flow of Everett and Layla's relationship. They seemed like the most unlikeliest of couples -- her all high class glamor and him with his gamer boy chic. Their differences aside, when they meet, it was kismet. They just knew they were mates and the passion between them was SERIOUS! There is also a bit of drama in the story that keeps it interesting and a crazy Effie who adds a humorous flavor. I'm hoping that North pairs Effie with Stryker. That will be HILARIOUS if it happens.

I have got to say the writing style and character development is fantastic. The witty comebacks thrown in with the drama and of course you can't forget about alleged the sexy sex scenes that will make you need to change your panties. I started with the P.N.W. werebear series which goes before the werecougar so they could be read alone but to get the whole world of the series you need to start there and then dive into the fanfricintastic book! You won't be disappointed!

It's hard to say how that is part of Putin's World.The history may not be exciting but it's thorough. But stop reading when you get to the present. First, the author burnishes her credentials with the never-Trump foreign policy establishment in a chapter on current U.S.-Russia relations that thoroughly reeks of Trump Derangement Syndrome. It's a chapter filled with misrepresentations and just plain falsehoods.As for the future, the author says the U.S. must stand firm but be flexible and open to improved relations. Really - that's it. We need to look elsewhere for imaginative solutions.

Highly repetitive, both between and within chapters. Nothing new in content. Hard to believe the author had a significant position in last administration. No new insights. The Russians will always be as they always have been: paranoid, belligerent, backward, arrogant, not to be trusted. This book reconfirms that, but is a waste of time.

Excellent! A much needed and timely account of one of the greatest threats to American national security today.The current crop of pro-Russian “fellow travelers” may not approve of Ms Stent’s work. Those who have had family members living under Soviet tyranny are not as naive as today’s Putin cheerleaders in the US and elsewhere.

The caste system may seem "exotic" to us in the West, but the kinds of prejudice and discrimination associated with the status of being an "untouchable" are depressingly familiar. Also depressingly familiar is the profound sexism of even the most politically radical men. I've still got a little bit to go as I write, but I will say that the account becomes a little too thorough in the second half of the book at the expense of cogency. I suppose I am saying that some cutting would have made it a better book aesthetically. But it is never boring.

This is a devastating, inspiring and highly informative book by a clear-thinking and courageous author. I read this book in two days without putting it down. The biggest eye-opener for me was how casteism is perpetrated by Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Communists -- everyone. Casteism is even perpetrated by Dalits towards other Dalits. This doesn't exonerate Hindus or anyone at all--it just shifts the framework away from Hindus being the only perpetrators. While I am left with more questions and doubts than answers about caste and how to dismantle it, this book increases my resolve to continue my work to build a progressive and pluralistic, anti-caste Hindu society. I recommend this book highly.

The stories of several family members’ lives are painstakingly recounted, and with them some of India’s vast population’s religious, gender, caste and political schisms and divides. Life there has not been even remotely easy - just how hard is a bruising eye-opener.

An amazing detailed family history about a class in India that usually has no voice. I hope the author continues to write more about herself, her family and India!

An eye-opening piece of writing, Rope Diplomacy gives new insights into life in the Islamic Republic of Iran. For starters, it was a revelation to me that a climbing community even existed there. As the Americans and Iranians (a woman among them, another surprise to me) team together to tackle the imposing peaks of Iran, language and cultural barriers are bridged and friendships formed. Crouch writes with understated humor that "life is not fun in Iran" and gives the reader an appreciation of what drives these climbers beyond a passion for climbing. Spectacular photographs accompany the article, capturing the beauty of this land and its people. A good follow-up read to this excellent piece is Crouch's China's Wings--another look into another faraway place with an intriguing history.

First, this story would be worth buying for the pictures alone. In terms of the story, the US and Iranian governments could learn something from this expedition. It clearly demonstrates that people are people the world over. A well written and interesting read.

I just spent an hour in Iran from the comforts of my over-sized plush sofa. Gregory crouch's vivid descriptions along with Stephen Alvarez's spectacular photos transported me to a country I will most likely never visit, and certainly to heights I will never ascend! It was enlightening and inspiring to read of the cross-cultural relationships that developed through the shared passion of climbing. If people more often shared their passions world wide, there would be a better understanding between cultures that could surpass their governments' differences.

Great potential but too much left out. I think a lot of opportunity squandered in brevity. in that so much left unexplored that was expected by the title.

A unique opportunity to see inside a country that we only hear bad things about. This author calmy shows us what wonderful people he has met in a place where most of us dare not go. I hope he writes more about this trip and others that he has done. Wonderfully well written and engaging!

At a time when all one hears with regard to the US and Iran is hostility and more hostility, it's heartening to learn that there are actually Americans and Iranians who are not engaged in exchanges of threats, but are actually working through their sport to build bridges of friendship. As a climber I'm a sucker for just about any read that talks to my sport. But this is a tale which moves beyond the narrow perspective of the climber and speaks to anyone who might believe that good ole every day folks can leave the messaging of antagonistic governments behind and engage in meaningful person to person diplomacy. I can think of no other sport where one's trust in one's companions is truly a matter of life and death. Climbing is the ultimate test of friendship and trust and this story makes it clear that the trust implicit in the brotherhood of the rope is indeed a powerful diplomatic tool. (Great climbing reading as well!) Definitely deserving of five stars.

One word: Fab. This book proves that through the power of brotherhood (and sisterhood), coupled with the love of mountaineering, the East and West can indeed meet. An erudite rendition on a topic that most climbers don't usually write about, leave alone do justice to it. It will be especially of interest to non-Moslem Zoroastrians (Parsis) and open-minded Iranian climbers, esp. the younger generation. Really enjoyed it...great work by Gregory Crouch. Will share my copy. Ah, actually no I wont! (-:

Full disclosure, Gregory Crouch is a West Point classmate of mine.As a non-climber, I was able to feel the love that the Iranians portrayed feel about climbing came shine through in this account. I came to appreciate that, even with the government restrictions, they can find place to enjoy the sport they love. This short story just reiterated to me that we are all the same just facing different circumstances.
