I was looking for something similar to the "Draw 50 Animals" by Lee J. Ames book I had as a child, but specifically for Dinosaurs since my daughter wanted to learn how to draw several different types. "How to Draw 101 Dinosaurs" does have step by step instructions on how to draw each of the dinosaurs, but it really just shows the final lines/curves of the dinosaur appearing in several stages. You would be just as well off looking at the final drawing of the dinosaur and recreating the lines. It does not show how to scale the dinosaur's body vs. head vs. legs, etc to get everything in proportion. In "Draw 50 Animals" there are some basic shapes drawn and then the final lines drawn in more detail around the basic shape. In "101 Dinosaurs" there are just the final lines, which makes it difficult to draw to scale if you are not an experienced artist. I would only recommend this book if you are looking for basic Dinosaur drawings to mimic.

My daughter loves dinosaurs. Knows every single dino out there. This book is amazing! Really best dino learn to draw book on the market that I've found so far.

What a fun book! My 8 year old who likes to draw has done excellent with the step by step instruction this book has. They are cartoonish looking dinosaurs and make it a lot of fun for him to draw and even make stories about.

This fun and clever picture book is just as entertaining for adults as for the kids! My son and I enjoyed scouring the words and illustrations for all of the great math puns. It's a fun way to introduce math concepts or to review with older kids. They'll enjoy spotting them throughout the book.The mystery kept us flipping pages.The Private "I" reminded me of Detective Joe Friday :-) . Fun picture book!

I just love Tar Lazar's humorous view of the world! Her fabulous sense of humor is evident in all her books. She is a wonderful author and knows exactly how to relate to kids. A laugh out loud book with all the puns and math humor. I couldn't stop giggling. It most definitely brings out the kid in you. A must for every bookshelf and library collection. This book should be in every dentist and doctor's office so kids can chuckle and forget about their visit. Love it!!

I really like this book. It is for probably third grade or older, but the use of idioms and puns is great. If reading it to younger children, the reader would need to point out some of the less obvious puns, but the illustrations help. I have shared it with adults and we have laughed together.

To both a numbers obsessed grandson and a word obsessed Nana and teacher, this book is the best! My five year old grandson loves 7 Ate 9, and I have shared it with a group of older kids also. Each time I read it, I find more clever little tidbit that I missed the first time. I can't say enough great things about this book! Thanks for another winner, Tara Lazar!

This book is hysterical! I bought it mostly because I am tired of the more straightforward and predictable book formats. complete with puns and lots of thought provoking lines...I know my kindergartner will enjoy this for many years.

I bought this book for my 5 year old nephew for Christmas. The story is very engaging with delightful wordplay, and the illustrations are fun and add to the story. This isn't a book to drill numbers, but it increases familiarity with numerical images and concepts. I highly recommend it.

Always having a passion for graphic design, I read through the reviews for this book and found most of it accurate. This book introduces basic graphic design at its most elemental level: key principles.It is not a workshop where it teaches you graphic design through a workbook environment. Rather, it introduces you to principles and challenges you to think how you are able to use the information provided. It gives you perspective and adds a new way of thinking to being creative with guidelines.Although, it touches many facets of graphic design it primarily focuses on having an aspiring graphic designer to notice the four basic elemental principles of graphic design. They would be: Contrast, Repetition, Alignment and Proximity.The book goes on to cover how different arts and mediums all need to be aware of the underlying 4 principles of graphic design.I found this book to be highly useful, easy to read, and a great basic introduction to the subject matter. You will always be able to use it as a handy reference and that in itself will add value forever!

I am actually quite a fan of Robin Williams' ability to simplify design and make the concepts accessible to "non-designers." I was such a fan of her book, The Non-Designer's Design Book (3rd Edition), that I bought this one, too. However, this is for a completely different audience.I am giving the book a "4-star" review because it is a beautiful book with lots of good information. I don't feel it's fair to downgrade the book simply because it was not a great match for me. But, if you are a "non-designer," stick with her other book.

I love this book! Again, I bought it to augment my classroom library for students learning graphic design software. It is a great introduction to how design works and gives solid, easy-to-follow rules for designing well. My students love this book!

I learned about this book at a recent seminar. Bought it here through Amazon. Was a little worried when I read the first chapter that it would be over my head because I am a total novice, but I soon found myself engrossed in the book. It really is very helpful and the repeatition of ideas and "rules" helps drive home the important stuff. Well laid out so you can skip the chapters that don't interest you. Although I would consider reading them. I found that certain ideas hit home better in some chapters than others and I think it has helped my overall design ability. Good Book especially for those of us who love how-to books.

I've always admired Robin Williams' design books. They're straight forward, practical, and well layed out, of course. What's important about Robin's books is that she consistently ties together several design principals and builds and connects to those principles in each of her books. She provides numerous examples and resources for you to build upon and she makes you feel that you can achieve the goals of good design. Her books are not written from an elitist or esoteric point of view. They're written for both design students and laymen who are interested in the principles of good and effective design.

All of Robin Williams' design books are not only well-written, but extremely accessible, and this one is no exception. In fact, this is my favorite of all of her books. I love that she includes so many details about the projects. She even includes detailed colophons in the backs of her books, which is very useful if you are at all interested in fonts and type styles. Even if you do a lot of design work, this book is useful for jump-starting creative blocks.Her Mac books are pretty good, too.

Robin Williams has done some great books on design and this is one of them. The clarity in her approach reflects her profound understanding of the subject matter. A great text book for graphic designers.

It would be an excellent gift for a young colleague – or a niece or nephew – just starting out in their career, as well as to someone with years of experience who will appreciate how clear and profound the message is in this book. This book is a real keeper, and its easy to read!!

I have been a fan of Paul Hellman's for many years, and I have used his strategies to develop new approaches to age-old problems. While the digital age presents new dynamics, the challenge of learning to speak at the right level to your audience and get their attention is not new. "You've Got 8 Seconds" does not disappoint and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. Paul's style is direct (doesn't waste time getting to the point), practical (gives actual tips/suggestions vs. just high level concepts) and engaging through the book's content, organization and his classic clever humor. I am going to use these concepts to help train my own team on becoming more influential speakers. Development is a journey not an event, and I recommend Paul as a helpful companion along the way!

I have only tried one recipe in the book. I made basic quick crust- I made the no cook sauce but added a tablespoon dry oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, and a little sugar- and we made the first pizza recipe. It made two pizzas- one I put pepperoni, green pepper, and onion. Baked it for 10 minutes and I thought they might be okay but I had no idea it would be THIS good!!!! Even my pizza picky husband loved it!! Said it was one of the best pizzas he's had. Tastes to me like Pizza Hut and Your Pie had a baby.This book has sooooo many recipes that look INCREDIBLE! I'm happy alone just with the first most basic recipe. So excited to try the rest.If you're on the fence about this book- just don't. Just buy it. Hahaha. It's so good!!! The photos are great and the turtles are great and the little facts and pointers are great. It really breaks down the basics too. I can't say enough good about this book. :)

This book is awesome for adults.. kids too. The recipes are fantastic! The book has multiple dough and sauce recipes, all of which are awesome. The book recommends cooking most pies at 500 F for 6-8 minutes, however if your oven gets up to 550, I would recommended that for 3-5 minutes. Buy the book. Reminense a bit. TMNT 4 life.

I ordered this for the TMNT fan in our house, but this is really a great cookbook that I am looking forward to using! When it arrived, I was surprised at the excellent quality of the pictures and the variety of recipes. This cookbook offers recipes for pizza dough as well as a huge variety of pizzas, from the traditional to the obscure. We're looking forward to trying several of them very soon!

I understand it's a cartoon but that aside the pizza recipes inside are pretty bad. They seem like pizzas kids or drunk college kids would eat. I wasn't looking for a legit pizza cookbook but this targets either people with terrible diets or drunk youth. I was excited but this fell short.

I love this cookbook! It is engaging, interactive, and just fun and easy going! It's perfect for kids and adults, which is great for some family bonding! It contains delicious recipes that are easy and also challenging if you want something different. You don't have to like TMNT, but if you are a huge fan, this cookbook is for you! As a librarian, my students love this cookbook and it's never on the shelves! Great gift for pizza lovers :)

Amazing cookbook for pizza night with the family. My kids loved the ninja turtle theme. Homemade NY sauce was awesome and so easy! Definitely recommend this book for folks making their own pizzas...especially with little ones!!!

I grew up watching TMNT and had to buy this. I have only tried three recipes so far but I am very happy with my purchase! There are some very unique pizzas I have never heard of or tried. The breakfast pizza with an egg on top is great as is the deep dish goulash pizza!

I've always loved TMNT. These have some good homemade recipes in it. I thought it would be ridiculous novelty pizzas, but they are actually normal recipes that you can make from scratch. It teaches you how to make dough and sauces from scratch. A fun dinner making activity with the kiddos.

The focus of the book is on cold fusion's statistically impossible anomalies. The author shows that such data can be just as important as repeatable experiments even though it is not accepted by mainstream scientists for some stubborn reason. If you all have a chance, check out the 60 minutes special on cold fusion on youtube where a skeptical scientist recants his original statements upon witnessing unexplainable anomalies at a facility which was carefully set up with his supervision. I really feel this book shows the promise of cold fusion without getting speculative or cultish. It's a wonderful book. Buy it if you want a good read on how peer reviewed conventional science can still fail us. Buy it if you have a fascination with cold fusion as it goes into the history of all fusion and has illustrations/photos to boot.

Dr. Eugene Mallove dedicated his life to the advancement of humanity through science. In this book, he clearly shows that there was an organized effort to suppress this "excess heat" Fleischmann-Pons effect that became known as cold fusion. Dr. Mallove realized early in the 1989 controversy that MIT was going to cover up positive results of excess heat from an electrochemical cell. He had to choose where he would stand in history, being a chief science writer for MIT. He chose to leave his job to advance this excess heat effect as a form of energy production.For choosing to stand with the evidence in a time of deceit, he was marginalized by mainstream science, along with Fleischmann and Pons, who left the country after the controversy. Now, we see many more, like Michael McKubre from SRI and Robert Godes of Brillouin, showing the evidence of excess heat and offering technical explanations for how it is achieved.

It will be pinoneers like Dr. Mallove who will be remembered for keeping the Cold Fusion flame alive during some of its darkest moments. Buy and read this book, it's sure to be a collectors item soon, as Cold Fusion will soon emerge as a mainstream field of science and Dr. Mallove will be exonerated for persuing such a taboo field of science.

I am prejudiced in the author's favor. I had read her work on decoding Egyptian Hieroglyphs, The Dawning Moon of The Mind, which stands on high merit. Ms Morrow used unusual intelligence guided by her sense of seeing beyond the apparent to arrive at stunning insights which have changed forever the way I see Egyptian writing. THEN I bought her earlier work reflecting a love affair with the country of Egypt, The Names Of Things. I expected the same intuitive vision and rigor but found something else: an earlier Egyptian adventure apparently when she was young, wild, and trying to find herself (nothing wrong with that). Anyone would be thrilled to encounter such a free spirit. While interesting and attractive as to the risks and experiences she reports, it was without the hoped for mature insight into things, people, places, and behavior. She reported on events without much curiosity into motive and circumstance of place or persons who seem to come into and out of her life with little emotional connection. Some readers may find that attractive for it's neutral stance. Judging from her later book, The Dawning Moon of The Mind, which stands as a landmark bit of investigative analysis, the Names of Things remains her sophomore effort.

It is creative and thoughtful , and beautifully written..give a sense of the layered meanings of things, starting with the words that represent them...poetic, intellectual, creative..a great read.

It certainly is refreshing to read how a truly educated and enlightened woman can insinuate herself into what has to be some pretty stressful situations. The Names of Things is as close to poetry as prose can get. Susan Brind-Morrow takes the reader on a wild cultural carousel through Egypt and its surroundings, brought on by professional necessity. This is not the tourist's travelogue, so be prepared to confront an astounding array of societal paradoxes. An example is Brind-Morrow's perception of how Arab men treat her. Even though Arab women are treated like property, Arab men treated her with great hospitality, as though she were a man. Every page reeks of humanity, so much so that after reading it through once, I now take it down occasionally to relive a page or two at a time. Bravo!

I read this book many many years ago and still find it one of my favorite travel memoirs. The writing is lyrical and evocative and her experiences are unique. I loved reading about not only the language and her quest for finding the right words, but also about a woman's journey around Egypt in settings far beyond the better known locations like Cairo, Alexandria or Giza. Such a gorgeous book. I'm reading it again for the third time and still love it!

Susan Brind Morrow has led a very interesting life. She's a graduate of Barnard College with a master's degree in classics from Columbia and for a short time was a fellow of the Creane-Rogers Foundation in Egypt and Sudan. Most of this book recounts her travels as a traveling archaeologist leading upto and around that period. Her prose is so lyrical that the book is more like reading poetry than anything else. So much so, that it's often difficult to keep a sense of where she is, who she's with, and what she's doing. The later is my only complaint, though to be honest it's not that anyone can capture in the lyrical sense what Susan Brind Morrow has in this very unique memoir.

I was captivated with the first paragraph and came back to the secondhand bookstore two weeks latter worried if that single book has been sold.I love this book. It reminds me that many things to do and still "Many songs waiting to be sung" in the passion of words.Words, that dull word got a living context here. Actually it has never been dull. I was dull.
