Although I've been a consumer of whole life insurance for some time, I've always had some doubts on how valuable a role it plays in my overall financial strategy. After reading Busting the Life Insurance Lies, my doubts have been extinguished, and I know I'm on the right path to wealth and prosperity. The concepts are explained in an easily understandable approach, and I appreciated the inclusion of the "Pro-whole-life" lies to balance the topic. For those looking for the truth about Life Insurance this is the book to read; you'll be glad you did.

As with all Kim Butler's books, I wish I had read these sooner in my financial life. This book certainly cleared up many of the misconceptions I had about life insurance. If you are in your early twenties to late thirties, you need to understand these principles now so you can reach your financial goals sooner than people like me who waited until their late sixties to get started. It will cost you less in fewer years to get where I am now at a greater cost. If you are older than 60 and have no savings, start now or plan to die with your boots on. What greater legacy can you leave for your children and grand children than a whole life policy on them from a mutual life company they can use to fund college or whatever life may throw at them? You need this book! Read it and follow the principles taught in its pages.

Great information, although the author is clearly pushing the Whole Life route as the way to go. It's good information overall. But for me, Whole Life is just ONE option as it always depends on a client's specific goals and objective. This book is a good road map to help some people navigate the financial noise that's out there from the Talking heads that push a One Size Fits all strategy for all people.

The title implies that life insurance is a scam and you'll learn all the dirty little secrets of the life insurance industry. On the contrary, it becomes quickly apparent that the book is one long sales pitch for whole life insurance, the kind that life insurance agents often sell as an "investment" without actually calling it an "investment."If you want life insurance go see the person who sold you your home and/or auto insurance and ask for options.

Busting insurance lies:What do “ordinary people” know about insurance? Whatever a family member, friend, or insurance broker tells you. You don’t know all the options open to you if you do not know the questions to ask. Insurance brokers are not devious and sneaky, they have certain things they know sell well and make the most money for them, and that is what they will tell you about. A recent experience with a broker revealed this to me. I asked him about whole-life and he immediately shifted to a different venue. I went back and asked questions about whole life as a vehicle for cash flow. He was surprised! I was able to ask the right questions about insurance because I had read this book which is straight - forward plain talk about insurance and got the information I was seeking. A good read.

This book is great for those who are new to using life insurance to build wealth as well as seasoned veterans. You'll learn the truth about life insurance...what it is and what it is not.

This book was a fantastic read. The story line with Stephen and Kara and their search for the truth about life insurance kept a normally boring subject interesting. After going through the 38 lies and carefully understanding each one, I am better able to answer the same questions when they pop up with my clients. Many people listen to financial entertainers on TV and Radio and just parrot what they say. Having this book and the expertise of Jack Burns and Kim Butler (as well as Todd Langford) on my side allows me to easily dispel those lies, myths and wives tales that have been portrayed for such a long time. This book isn't just another "buy whole life insurance" sales book, it is a thought provoking tale that allows the reader to come to their own conclusions with the help of Burns, Butler and Co. We will be using this book as part of our introduction to understanding the truths about life insurance so families can have more safety, security, utility and prosperity over multiple generations.

The first Princess in Black book came out in January 2015. That spring, I was babysitting for some co-workers of mine. Their daughter Analise would have been 6, and their son Jonathan, 3. I read the book to them. I can vividly remember Jonathan constantly jumping up to do this or that every few minutes. He couldn't stand to sit still. Analise got so aggravated with him because I had to keep stopping and she was dying to know what happened. We made it though the book and she loved it. I was babysitting them again in the fall, and they wanted me to read Princess in Black. That time, they both sat still in rapt attention. I was shocked at how big a difference a few months had made. Jonathan frequently said something along the lines of "Oh, we're coming to my favorite part." I remember it distinctly because I kept thinking, "How in the world do you know what's coming next? You weren't even listening the first time!" Apparently he was. He just hadn't been able to sit still that long. We have read the Princess in Black books countless times over the years. They frequently ask if a new Princess in Black book is coming out. I saw The Princess in Black and the Science Fair Scare on March 21 and immediately pre-ordered it. When I shared the news with them, they were super-excited. Over the last six months, they have frequently asked me if it had come out yet? I told them it wouldn't be out until after Labor Day. Ever since Labor Day, almost every time I have seen them, the first words out of their mouths were, "Is the new book out yet? How much longer?" We have literally been counting down the days for about 2 weeks. Since my book was supposed to arrive on its release date on Tuesday September 25, we made plans to get together today to read it. I saw them on Sunday and they asked if it had shipped yet, and I said no, but that I was still supposed to get it on Tuesday. We were all worried that it wouldn't arrive on time, because we were anxious to read it. When I went to their house tonight to babysit, their first words were, "Did it come?" There was great rejoicing when I said yes. They were also excited to hear that I hadn't even opened it yet, but had waited to open it with them. They loved it. They are already asking how long it will take for Book 7 to come out. I have also shared these books with many other young ladies. They all love them. After reading The Princess in Black Takes a Vacation, Analise, Jonathan, and a friend immediately wanted to act out the story. They put on a "play" for their parents. I don't know about all the other children in the world, but the kids I know all love them. They are good, clean reads, and as you can see from this story, they are favorites with girls, but boys love them too. After all, what's not to love with princesses and monsters put together?

My 7 year old homeschool first grader LOVES these books. I have read them all to her and she is reading through the second book aloud to me currently. The story line is fun and cute. Love that she is a princess who fights monsters. Our two year old likes the pictures and all the monsters. My daughter reads 1-2 chapters aloud each sitting, can read more when not distracted by little sister. She is 7, in first grade and reading at about a second grade level. There are a few words she needs help with, but for the most part she can read these books on her own. This story is fun and keeps her engaged.

My 7 year old LOVES this series. Cute, easy to read, well illustrated! Definitely a set to keep and hand down through the family!

We adore the Princess in Black books, and this is just as fantastic as the rest of the series. It has a great message for girls as well as being a great story.

As a long-time fan of Iowa State athletics, I enjoyed reading this collection of stories about the Iowa State athletic program. Iowa State fans will likely be familiar with the stories about such Cyclone greats as Jack Trice, the Mayor, Cael Sanderson, Dan Gable, and Seneca Wallace. But the book also contains stories about the programs and athletes from sports that get less attention. Track and field coach Bill Bergan is arguably the most successful coach in ISU history. His teams won 10 cross country championships in the then-Big 8 conference and NCAA national championships in 1989 and 1994. Lisa Koll, who won national NCAA championships at 5,000 and 10,000 meters in 2010 and competed in the 2012 London Olympics, couldn't be left out of the book. Ed Gagnier's building of the now defunct ISU men's gymnastic team into a national powerhouse, winning national titles in 1971, 1973, and 1974, is yet another success story.Halsted and Montz also go back into time to tell the stories about the Dirty Thirty, ISU Fights song, Hilton Coliseum, and the Cyclones' 1944 Final Four appearance, among other stories worth remembering.Did the authors leave anyone out? Many ISU fans will likely have a favorite coach or athlete they think should be included in the book. One nomination is Glenn Scobey "Pop" Warner, who coached football at ISU from 1895-1899 and then became Jim Thorpe's first coach at Carlisle. Bizarrely, Warner coached teams from two schools simultaneously on three occasions: Iowa State and Georgia during the 1895 and 1896 seasons, Iowa State and Cornell in 1897 and 1898, and Iowa State and Carlisle in 1899. Another nominee for inclusion is KJ Kindler, who was a star gymnast at ISU before she became head coach of the team from 2001-2006, being named Big XII Coach of the Year in 2004, 2005, and 2006, as well as National Head Coach of the Year in 2005.All in all, the book is a well-written and fun to read. I recommend it.

Very well-written and entertaining book. It shares stories of Iowa State athletics that many don't know about as well as more details and smaller stories that fans may think they already know about. The writing will take you back to 1957 to the men's basketball game against No. 1 Kansas and Wilt Chamberlain in the old Armory. It'll take you to Jack Trice Stadium in 2011 when the Cyclones upset No. 2 Oklahoma State with a touchdown from Jeff Woody in 2OT. The writing in this book will take you to all the places you've never even known you wanted to go as a Cyclone fan. This book is truly one that every Cyclone fan needs to read.

I bought this for my dad, an Iowa State alum. He liked it a lot, but said the title is deceiving. It's more historical events in Iowa State sports, than "things you should do before you die."

My wife was extremely happy with this creative book and we will be ordering more for her family

I recently purchased this book, because I was trying to rely less on the accountant when I had questions about navigating QuickBooks. First off, if you have no accounting experience, or have never used QuickBooks Pro then I would purchase a less comprehensive book. It does give you a couple of chapters in the beginning, that attempt to rapidly explain accounting principles. However, in my opinion someone that has no accounting background would be confused, and possibly intimidated by continued use of QuickBooks.That being said, this book does give a comprehensive overview of the program, and is easy to follow if you are familiar with QuickBooks. I use QuickBooks Pro daily, and found this book very easy to understand. It also explained functions within the program that I did not know existed prior to reading this book. I set out to find an alternate way to learn about QuickBooks outside a classroom environment, and I think this book accomplishes that. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a similar situation.

I just got handed the job of treasurer for a club I belong to--I had to learn Quick Books quickly. This book helps a great deal--especially the glossary that allows me to look up exactly what I need. Quick Books is fairly intuitive once you get the hang of it--and this book is a great go-to for those situations you can't quite figure out yourself.

There isn't a whole lot to say about the Dummies series, so I would just add that this is very effective for what it is. I needed a basic introduction to QuickBooks but also some general accounting practices and this served that purpose.If I had a quibble, it's calling it an "8 Books in 1" and then charging north of $18 for a kindle version. Really?

Was what I expected. Full of valuable information about accounting and bookkeeping as well.

As a bookkeeper this is my bible. This book goes into all of the ins and outs of QuickBooks. I refer to it all the time.

The lure of the railroad is still strong in both old and young. The lure for author Seth H. Bramson is almost incurable. For those in Florida the railroad of note is the Florida East Coast Railway for which Mr. Bramson is the official historian.What railroad enthusiasts will find here is standard Arcadia Publishing fare. 128 pages loaded with black and white photos. The descriptions of the photos are certainly adequate but not in depth due to space restraints.Subjects include the Key West extension, boom and bankruptcy, World War 2, the end of bankruptcy, the nearly decade long union strike and management at the time of publication.For the goal of this book it is certainly top notch. The photos are reproduced well which is not always the case in Arcadia titles. The majority of photos are from the author’s collection which in some cases could be a problem but not here. Bramson’s collection is rivaled only by his knowledge of the subject.If you are looking for a “history” of the Florida East Coast Railway I would suggest look for the author’s book Speedway to Sunshine: The Story of the Florida East Coast Railway. I would also suggest a visit to Mr. Bramson’s website.Recommended for those with an interest in rail history or those who live in a town served by the FEC.

Growing up on Florida's east coast, the FEC was the hometown railroad. Very little has been written about this interesting carrier, and most of what has, tends to focus on the Key West line and operations during the Florida boom years, leaving gaps in the story of the postwar and modern eras.This book is an excellent companion to Mr. Bramson's earlier work - "Speedway to Sunshine," and we see many more images of interest to anyone curious about what the railroad accomplished AFTER the hurricane wiped out the Key West extension.I especially enjoyed seeing black & white photos of the line's E and F units in blue, rather than their fancy dress colors of the early streamline phase. While you can't squeeze everything in, this comes close.This is a darned good all-in-one reference for the nominal fan who wants the straight 4-1-1 about this railroad, for the hard-core FEC enthusiast who wants everything written about the line, and even for the Florida historian interested in the development of the east coast.Two thumbs up from this reader!

Bought this for Christmas for my husband. He can't put it down. Have to say author Seth Bramson, puts the history of Florida Rails into a book so interesting that is hard to put down. Thank you Seth.

Great little book on the FEC. Seth did a great job on this book. Another must have book for railfans and historians.

Seth Bramson's book is full of history and illustrations that bring the early railroad to life as well as early Florida. The two the state of Florida and the Florida East Coast Railway are so intertwined that sometimes it is hard to tell them apart.I am not originally from Florida so I knew nothing about the FEC before I became involved in the Steam Locomotive Association #253 and much to my surpise the last paage of Mr. Bramson's book is dedicated to Engine #253 and those who are restoring this 1924 steam locomotive to operating condition.Florida East Coast Railway is a must read for anyone interested in the history of Florida because it grew up around the Florida East Coast Railway construction. The railroad was the first and only to cross the keys to Key West which at its time was a phenomenal feat.I recommend this book to any and all interested in trains and/or Florida history.Mr. Bramson is a delightful man, an excellent writer and teacher. Read Florida East Coast Railway, you will not be sorry. Also I recommend his book Speedway to Sunshine for even more history of both the FEC and Florida.Betty Jean Andrianoff
