Amazing graphics. You will love.

eleven year old grandson thinks this is cool and challenging toward the end.

We bought this for an activity book for our recent trip! My five-year-old LOVED it!! So worth the buy!

My 6 year old son LOVES this book! When he first opened it, he was unsure about it. He thought he had to draw in it, and so then he just wanted to look at it. Then I read the instructions on the back cover, which indicate to use your finger to trace through the maze. Then he was so excited and couldn't wait to go through them.The mazes start out pretty simple, but then get more complicated such that you must retrace your path and try a different path many times. This makes it fun and also will make it fun to do again and again because you wouldn't simply remember the path each time.Also, the pages creatively set forth different ways to travel the maze. One is a road, one is a house with rooms with doors, one is a roadway system of underpasses and overpasses, etc.There is also a lot of interesting things to look at in the pictures. Besides a maze book, it's like an iSpy book - there are phrases at the bottom that suggest different things to look for along the path of the maze. Some are harder than others.Finally, the answer key is at the end so you can see the path and the circled items that are suggested to be found.The best part is that my son wanted to draw his own maze afterwards!! This book really stimulates creativity that lasts long after the book is closed. This is the sign of a really GREAT book!In sum, this is a fantastic and unique book, not only for my 6 year old but also for both of us to spend quality time together. I will be looking to see if this is one of a series (like the I Spy books) so we can explore more.

Sorry about the cheesy header to this review. The time changed overnight but my brain did not spring forward along with it. But my brain is functional enough to note that this is a delightful book. It's large, with 12" X 12" pages, but not a long book, with only 28 pages of 14 two-page-spread mazes and 2 pages with the answers, in case your brain is so a-maze-d that you can't figure out how to get to your destination.But those 28 pages with mazes are great. Colorful and fun, with outstanding graphics. The creator is one of Paris's top graphic artists and this book was first published in France as LABYRINTHES. It's easy to see why he's so well regarded in France.Each 2-page maze measures 24" X 12". There are scenes at the beach, in the ocean, a futuristic city, robots, mechanical works, a dragon's lair, and more. So much to see in each maze that you can spend hours just looking at the graphics. In addition to finding the correct pathway in the maze, you are also challenged to find 5 hidden objects per maze.It's a bit crazy making for my old eyes, but the grandchildren have lots of fun with this. The mazes vary in difficulty, so there are mazes for all age levels. Suggested age levels are 7-10 years, grade levels 2-5, but I have fun doing these also. The first mazes are easier and grow progressively more difficult, but the biggest delight, IMO, is the colorful graphics and fun themes of each maze.

My 7 year old and I sat down with this book. The mazes inside have some pretty cool designs that are reminiscent of Eric Carle illustrations. There is one that's a scuba diver who needs to get back to his submarine. The background is a deep dark blue and the borders of the maze path are various aquatic creatures and underwater-things. At the bottom of the page, there are extra objectives, such as "find a white coral" to do along your way. The mazes themselves are pretty basic, but the additional "find 'ems" add a degree of fun and difficulty if your kid is a maze-whiz. This would be a good book to keep in your bag of stuff for outtings where kids may have to sit in a waiting room or lobby. They don't have to remember where they left off in a plot, but they can still sit quietly and engaged in something useless without a battery or screen. A few more mazes or a few with more difficulty would have made this a 5-star book for me, but overall still pretty cool concept and gorgeously drawn.

I was probably more excited to get a maze book than my daughter was. I'm still looking for adult ones that really challenge me. I used to make my own mazes online and print them out to give my brain something to focus on while I waited for things. Anyways, I have passed on my love of puzzles, mazes, and games to my daughter. When I got this for her, she sat down with me and flipped through the pages. We did all the search and find type things first and then finger traced the mazes. The first maze is very easy, but the second one that you go through doors in the house was much harder. It took my daughter about 15 minutes to figure it out. We have a rule that one you hit a blocked spot, you have to go back to the beginning and she's not allowed to go to the end first. Because of this, it was definitely the hardest one for her to complete. We haven't drawn in the book, so she is able to go back and do them or do variations of them (have to touch each of the search and find options before solving the maze). Altogether, I think it took her about 4 days to complete all of the mazes for the first time.

As he searches we learn more about him, ghosts, Irish folk lore and the accompanying prejudices and the magic mysticism of Ireland. A great, entertaining book -- funny, violent, peopled with wonderful and evil characters. You will love it.

The Prologue is set in May 1950 but is only three pages long. Though a short piece it’s packed with drama as a woman is murdered while her baby son sleeps quietly in a nearby forest, hidden by great ferns. The book proper begins with chapter one set in April 1976 as a young man from Dublin named Mahony arrives in the town of Mulderrig. Now what do you think are the odds that Mr. Mahony is the baby son of that murdered woman? Right, they’re pretty good odds indeed. The reader will deduce this quickly but the folks in Mulderrig won’t catch on for a while. Mahony’s landlady, Mrs. Cauley, recruits him to help audition locals as performers in the town’s Christmas play. During the auditions Mrs. Cauley sneaks in many questions about Orla Sweeney and her whereabouts, a woman who turns out to be Mahony’s missing mother. All this curiosity causes a much greater interest by the townspeople in Mahony and just what he is doing in their town. Mahony, Mrs. Cauley, and other friends begin an investigation of the various characters in Mulderrig and who might be suspects in Orla’s disappearance. There’s even a supernatural element involved; the images of many dead citizens appear at different times to point the way. The unique charm of the Irish way of writing English prose is another enjoyable feature of this novel. You’ll have a grand time as long as you don’t get banjaxed by a wayward undesirable one. Fair play to you!

I am a voracious reader but am not enthralled with every book. THIS book was great! Engaging characters and a good plot--I could hardly put it down, and have recommended to friends.If you are a lover of all things Irish, and enjoy a bit of fantasy and ghostiness, you will love this book.

This is a wonderfully entertaining book. Having driven the roads of Western Ireland myself, I could easily picture the setting of this town that isn't...where a young man coming from Dublin determines he must visit to discover what happened to his mother here.The earth, wind, deceased spirits and lively characters meet with his will to help find the truth.Cannot think of a better St Paddy's Day read than this Kindle book, just $1.99 from Amazon.

Himself is an unusual mystery as we don't know from the beginning of the book if the character "disappeared" or was murdered. After all, this is Ireland and given the history of folk tales and myths, Orla could have been taken by the fairies. Unlike many readers who have commented here, I do not think this is a wonderful read. It is not literary fiction and I knew from the start that I wasn't reading Sebastian Barry or Roddy Doyle. The story was engaging enough and the characters developed enough but I stopped reading 2/3 of the way through the novel and returned it (to Kindle). The reason? Animal cruelty and abuse that has nothing to do with the story. The author refers to drowning kittens in a bag many times throughout the novel as it pertains to the disappearance of the main character. What finally did it for me was a cruel and completely unnecessary description of killing a pet that one might think fit the plot or added to the novel. I could not get that image out of my mind and I stopped reading the novel shortly after that. Do yourself a favor. If you want to read a murder mystery that takes place in Ireland, read Tana French.

Raised in a Dublin orphanage, he never knew his mother, has no memory of her or of family, or even of this place.”She couldn’t have known it but it was then that her baby stopped crying. The void her son had fallen into without the cradle of her gaze was immeasurable. He lay as mute as a little mushroom.”He’s an adult now, old enough to search for her, for the reasons why she abandoned him. Who, and where he comes from.At first Mahoney’s presence goes mostly unnoticed by the mortal members of town, but Mahoney is aware of those beyond the realm who hover around him, teasing him with their presence. Their eyes tell so much, and nothing at all at the same time.”For the dead are drawn to those with shattered souls”.He is aware of the others, can see them, but he can’t see her. His mother. Orla Sweeney.He has a photograph of her, where she’s holding him as an infant, given to him as he was leaving the Orphanage. Sister Veronica had left him an envelope, his real name, and the town of his birth: Mulderrig. He knows from the note that he was taken from his mother, by unknown townspeople, because his mother was “the curse of the town.””His dark eyes are her eyes, the shape of his face, hers. The way he stands with his weight shifted back on his heels and his nose in the air, hers.”And so, Mahoney arrives in Mulderrig in search of himself.Jess Kidd shares her story in writing that is lovely, inspired, ingenious, and quintessentially Irish in the colloquial expressions. Lonergan's research and "method" can be applied to any field of human endeavor from quantum theory to astro cosmology. Profound and far-reaching, it is an accute examination of how our minds work. Lonergan applies it to theology but it is universally valid.

Great introduction to Bernard Lonergan. Nice that this older reprint still exists. The new critical editions, as useful as they may be to the scholar are cost prohibitive to the novice. Thank you the university of Toronto for keeping this now oldie in print.

Excellent book and a great seller.

This is a brilliant investigation on method in philosophy, is a complement work of Insight, but in itself "method" is a real and profound guide about understanding. Highly recommend this book because for me it is a "formulary" which you can constantly turn and always brings fresh and interesting ideas.

I don't know where to begin. First, I purchased this book because it was the book of the month for my book club.Surprise!!! Dr. Daniel Black came to our book club meeting to discuss the book with us.The layers of this story, the characters, their purpose, their names, their history..... OMG!My mouth constantly flew opened at the audacity, the naivety, the insensitivity, the strengths and weaknesses of each character. If you have the opportunity to speak to him about the story DO SO! He needs to publish another book just to walk you through the layers of every character and chapter. Once he discussed it with us I had to go back and re-read it and it was a whole new experience. Twisted, complex but brilliant! This was the first of his books in my library and two months later, I now have 3 books. Logged on today to look for my 4th. I'm hooked!

While I did enjoy the book in its entirety there are a few things that kept me shaking my head in frustration. Starting off with Emma Jean, I had hope for her character, I know most readers would hate her but I did not. She did need to be punished for her wrongs but I felt as though her demise was bit unfair. I thought Henryetta's deed was equally as bad as Emma Jean's. I felt like the author put so much on Emma Jean from childhood then into adulthood and never let up. The God in this novel is not a forgiving one. My other frustration was with the closure of the book, I felt like our "main" character Perfect/Paul gets muddled out, leaving me with so many questions on how his character fared in the end. I did enjoy how Mr. Black was able to seamlessly switch POV from character to character, it felt as though I was reading a movie. It deals with some tough topics causing me to take breaks between chapters to get some resolve. But it is for sure a page turner. It gave me great ideas and topics to ponder and discuss. Overall a good read.

This is probably one of the best books I have EVER read; this story is emotionally intense, shocking, sad, heartbreaking and yet hopeful because, in spite of some of the horrendous things that happen to people in this book, the human spirit somehow survives some of the craziness and folks can still move on, maybe broken but still thrive. It also shows you how destructive we can be when we try to love people out of our woundedness, we end up needing and wanting things that are unhealthy. We can't make up for did or didn't happen in our own childhoods by trying to work our mess out thru our children.It's hard to talk about this book without giving away too much, but this story focuses on deception and how one lie can change the lives of so many people in an irreparable way. It also challenges the way we understand gender, sexual orientation, and sex roles in our culture and how our inability to accept and embrace difference can be so destructive. While the book takes place in the 1940's, the topic is timely for our current time period.

It was painful, at times, to feel the hurt present in the hearts of Emma Jean, Perfect, and others. The writing here is so vivid, so well done, that feeling is exactly what happens. It's almost like watching television, and as the scenes change, your experience of each character changes along with it.Emma Jean, a lady with low self confidence and feelings of self worth, married Gus and began having babies. She loved them all, but desperately wanted to restore what she was lacking by pouring it into the life of her own daughter. The treachery and deceit that follow nearly destroys everyone she loves, including the perfect little daughter she'd carefully constructed.This is an emotional read that tackles many topics. Each is done in a way that realistically displays the ills of the world. In the end, there isn't the "for a big pretty ribbon on it and everyone is all better" outcome. There are some casualties. That's a great way to end such a read, because such is life...there will be casualties.

I became invested in the characters. I wanted so desperately for their lives to work out. I cannot imagine how one person can make those life choices for another and then in the blink of an eye destroy a poor child’s identity and sense of self. I had to keep reading to see how they survived and hoped they would come into their own. It brought up many questions about what life would be like if midstream you are told that the person you are is no longer a “valid choice” and that you as a young child are now reinvented. This is one of the best books I've ever read! It's a story of love, abuse, neglect, and sorrow. Not to mention many more feelings and emotions. The story is set in the middle of the 20th century. It displays the struggle of the black community where whites prevail. I recommend this book to anyone that loves to read. The focus is on the Peace family, primarily Paul. I can't go into the details because I don't want to spoil the story of The book for future readers. The storyline is different on many levels. The characters are well developed and believable. I will certainly read more books from this author.

Although I've been a consumer of whole life insurance for some time, I've always had some doubts on how valuable a role it plays in my overall financial strategy. After reading Busting the Life Insurance Lies, my doubts have been extinguished, and I know I'm on the right path to wealth and prosperity. The concepts are explained in an easily understandable approach, and I appreciated the inclusion of the "Pro-whole-life" lies to balance the topic. For those looking for the truth about Life Insurance this is the book to read; you'll be glad you did.

As with all Kim Butler's books, I wish I had read these sooner in my financial life. This book certainly cleared up many of the misconceptions I had about life insurance. If you are in your early twenties to late thirties, you need to understand these principles now so you can reach your financial goals sooner than people like me who waited until their late sixties to get started. It will cost you less in fewer years to get where I am now at a greater cost. If you are older than 60 and have no savings, start now or plan to die with your boots on. What greater legacy can you leave for your children and grand children than a whole life policy on them from a mutual life company they can use to fund college or whatever life may throw at them? You need this book! Read it and follow the principles taught in its pages.

Great information, although the author is clearly pushing the Whole Life route as the way to go. It's good information overall. But for me, Whole Life is just ONE option as it always depends on a client's specific goals and objective. This book is a good road map to help some people navigate the financial noise that's out there from the Talking heads that push a One Size Fits all strategy for all people.

The title implies that life insurance is a scam and you'll learn all the dirty little secrets of the life insurance industry. On the contrary, it becomes quickly apparent that the book is one long sales pitch for whole life insurance, the kind that life insurance agents often sell as an "investment" without actually calling it an "investment."If you want life insurance go see the person who sold you your home and/or auto insurance and ask for options.

Busting insurance lies:What do “ordinary people” know about insurance? Whatever a family member, friend, or insurance broker tells you. You don’t know all the options open to you if you do not know the questions to ask. Insurance brokers are not devious and sneaky, they have certain things they know sell well and make the most money for them, and that is what they will tell you about. A recent experience with a broker revealed this to me. I asked him about whole-life and he immediately shifted to a different venue. I went back and asked questions about whole life as a vehicle for cash flow. He was surprised! I was able to ask the right questions about insurance because I had read this book which is straight - forward plain talk about insurance and got the information I was seeking. A good read.

This book is great for those who are new to using life insurance to build wealth as well as seasoned veterans. You'll learn the truth about life insurance...what it is and what it is not.

This book was a fantastic read. The story line with Stephen and Kara and their search for the truth about life insurance kept a normally boring subject interesting. After going through the 38 lies and carefully understanding each one, I am better able to answer the same questions when they pop up with my clients. Many people listen to financial entertainers on TV and Radio and just parrot what they say. Having this book and the expertise of Jack Burns and Kim Butler (as well as Todd Langford) on my side allows me to easily dispel those lies, myths and wives tales that have been portrayed for such a long time. This book isn't just another "buy whole life insurance" sales book, it is a thought provoking tale that allows the reader to come to their own conclusions with the help of Burns, Butler and Co. We will be using this book as part of our introduction to understanding the truths about life insurance so families can have more safety, security, utility and prosperity over multiple generations.
