Very clear and detailed. Someone wrote a comment on a different publication that the instructions are redundant, which may be true, but I find that having directions in different forms is really helpful. Additionally, the directions are clear despite the fact that the book is clearly written by someone whose first language is not English. Honestly, this particular quirk of this guidebook makes it more enjoyable for me to read, but I realize not everyone will agree with me. There are photos of where to go (for example, what you are looking for when you get off the MTR or bus), and I find this sort of thing extremely helpful.
I don't like to be critical as the writer put a lot of enthusiasm into the work, and if you like quirky publications this might be the book for you; but as a practical walking guide it just wasn't very good. It consisted of quirky language - to use that word again - and lots of black and white photos of bus stops and streets. It is also quite a large book, so heavy to carry around. As a source of useful information on Hong Kong hiking I couldn't recommend it
