Overall, a superb monograph of the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki. Phaidon always does a great job on these books in terms of their design values however there's one aspect I really disliked: a majority of the pages are tinted a rose-pink. At first I wondered if this was some sort of error in the printing but other pages are white and the photos are clear (and most are very good, too) so I concluded this was in fact an intentional design ploy, although a very ill-advised one as the text is somewhat hard to read given the color. That aside, it's a great monograph on an architect worthy of such attention. The writing is lucent and demonstrates that the author, who is Japanese himself and a specialist in Japanese contemporary architecture, has a fine understanding of Izozaki's career.
